CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Intro to Flow:
These classes weave classic yoga postures and breath-directed movement into fluid sequences that build heat, stability, mobility and endurance. Students will develop a basic understanding of the sun salutation, foundational standing and seated postures, as well as breath awareness tools. Much attention will be paid to proper alignment, which is essential in maintaining the integrity and safety of the body as one%u2019s practice develops. This class is appropriate for beginners and is recommended prior to participating in faster-paced Vinyasa classes.

Vinyasa (Flow):
LauraNidra Yoga combines the strength and accuracy of held postures with the grace of breath-directed movement sequences. Classes seamlessly marry the Ashtanga and Universal Traditions and are structured around the sun salutation to build strength, increase flexibility and develop mindfulness. This class moves at steady pace to build heat and cardiovascular endurance. A basic understanding of the sun salutation, alignment principles and ujjayi (breath technique) is recommended. Students of all levels are invited to listen to their body and to move in a way that honors this deep and discerning wisdom.

Yoga Nidra:
Yoga Nidra, or conscious sleep, is a profoundly relaxing yet transformative practice that is equivalent to four hours of regular, unconscious sleep. Yoga Nidra is a systematic method of complete relaxation, not only for the physical body, but also for the deeper emotional and mental layers of being; it works at the root of stresses, allowing the release of subconscious tensions and tendencies that inhibit us from living to our full potential. No previous meditation experience required.

Yin Yoga:
This class balances the vigorous, yang-style, Vinyasa Yoga energy with a more passive, yin-style, opening of the hips, shoulders and spine. Postures are held for an extended length of time and are done primarily from the seated, prone or supine positions. This is a quite and contemplative class. The last 15 minutes of the class will be reserved for seated meditation and savasana. No previous yoga or meditation experience is required.
